Good evening!

Lachlan Harper

Thanks for tuning into Wide World of Sports' LIVE coverage of the first Test between India and Australia.

We'll be back for the next one!

Warner's advice to top four

Lachlan Harper

Usman Khawaja, Nathan McSweeney, Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith barely fired a shot against India.

David Warner had one piece of advice for them.

"They need to get together, have a conversation, work out between themselves what can we do differently? How do we approach it? Do we be braver?," he said on Fox Cricket.

"We saw Steve Smith adapting, not going too far across. He's tinkering with a few things but that top order has earned that right but it (the blowtorch) will shine on them if they're not scoring runs in the next few Test matches."

The main man for India

Lachlan Harper

The stand-in captain Jasprit Bumrah is player of the match.

He was unbelievable with the ball.

Australia have a lot of work to do if they're to handle him in the next Test.

Cummins flags 'plenty of conversations'

Lachlan Harper

Australian captain Pat Cummins has described the Test as "fairly disappointing" after the big loss.

The top order was particularly dreadful and Cummins said there'll be "conversations" around what happens heading to the second Test.

"There's a lot of experience there," he said post-match.

"This summer it's a sample size of one, I think they're going about their work really well.

"I'm sure there'll be plenty of conversations ... if we come up against a similar attack, similar conditions, what are some of those things we could do better?"

India claim victory

Lachlan Harper

Well that's comprehensive.

India win by 295 runs after Alex Carey's dismissal.

Rana bowled some short stuff to Carey.

Then he followed it up with a slower ball to skittle his stumps.

Australia bowled out for 238.

"It's an unlikely victory, it really is," Mark Waugh said on Fox Cricket.

We have a review

Lachlan Harper

Alex Carey plays and misses at one and it hits him very high on the pad.

India decide to review the decision.

There's no bat involved but it looks very high.

Anndddd after a long wait ... not out.

Disastrous start

Lachlan Harper

Two balls after the tea break and Nathan Lyon is gone.

He played for the spin from Washington Sundar and it went straight on and crashed into off stump.

Aussies now 9-227.

That's tea

The departure of Starc means that's the session.

Australia are 8-227. Alex Carey is the last great hope.

WHAT A CATCH

Lachlan Harper

Mitchell Starc is gone and it's a brilliant catch.

The big left-hander departs for 12 after Dhruv Jurel caught a one-handed screamer at bat pad.

"That is an absolute classic ... unbelievable," Mike Hussey said on Fox Cricket.

Washington Sundar was the wicket-taker, his first of the innings.

Carey not giving up

Lachlan Harper

He was the star in the Sheffield Shield.

Then he was probably Australia's best in the first innings.

Now Alex Carey is showing he's got some form with the bat at the moment.

Carey's currently on 27 with five minutes to go until tea.
