Originally from Brisbane, her hometown, Kriukelis holds a Bachelor of Journalism and Bachelor of Arts from the University of Queensland, with majors in political science and English literature.
Her academic prowess was acknowledged with the prestigious Executive Dean's Commendation award in her graduating year.
Her career kicked off at the ABC, where she began as an online reporter and arts commentator before transitioning to the national broadcaster's Sydney newsroom six months later. Seeking diversity, Kriukelis ventured to regional Australia in 2008, reporting for the ABC and Seven Network from Darwin and Cairns.
Covering stories ranging from cyclones to remote communities in Cape York and Arnhem Land earned her accolades, including Queensland Multi Media and SANE Media awards.
In 2010, she relocated to the Sunshine Coast, exploring her passion for sports as a reporter and presenter. Kriukelis returned to Brisbane in 2011, joining the 9News team.
In late 2017, Kriukelis filled in for newsreader Sylvia Jeffreys in Sydney, showcasing her versatility within the network.
Beyond her professional endeavours, she's an avid touch football player, runner, and enthusiast of live theatre.
As a proud Queenslander, she's often seen cheering on her favourite teams at Suncorp Stadium or the Gabba.
