The accident happened at the intersection of Campbell Street and Hamilton Place.

A man has since handed himself into police to assist with their inquiries.

Police have seized a Queensland Rail heavy vehicle for forensic examination.

Authorities would like to speak to a number of drivers who stopped to help and anyone who was in the Bowen Hills area early this morning, especially if they may have dash cam footage.

The woman is receiving treatment in the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital.

Police can be contacted on 131 444 or 1800 333 000.
