Man arrested over armed robbery of pub

Queensland detectives have made a breakthrough in their attempt to track down outstanding armed robbery offenders.

A 23-year-old man was arrested in Mansfield overnight, and taken to Mount Gravatt Police Station where he was charged with armed robbery, attempted arson, and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

It’s alleged he’s one of three offenders responsible for the armed robbery of the Edinburgh Castle Hotel in Kedron last week.

Staff at the hotel were threatened with firearms and a machete, but were not hurt.

The other two offenders remain outstanding.

It comes days after Queensland Police launched Operation Quebec Point, a taskforce targeting armed robbery bandits.

During the public launch of the taskforce, police appealed to members of the public to come forward with any information they may have about a series of armed robberies in Brisbane that date back to November last year.
