When Meghan Markle celebrates her birthday this Saturday, Queen Elizabeth II will undoubtedly think of her late mother.

The newly anointed Duchess of Sussex, 36, shares her August 4 birthday with Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, the Queen Mother.

Though the two women never had the chance to meet, Meghan has likely become familiar with the legacy of the Queen's beloved mother.

Following her husband's sudden ascension to the throne, she became famously dedicated to her royal duties.

When World War II broke out in 1939, she publicly defied Cabinet's advice to evacuate London with her daughters or send them away, declaring, "The children won't go without me. I won't leave the King. And the King will never leave."

This Saturday will mark Meghan's 37th birthday, and her first as an official member of the British monarchy.

However, it seems she'll be spending the day at the wedding of one of husband Prince Harry's childhood friends.

Last week, a royal photographer revealed on Twitter that the Duke of Sussex would be best man at the wedding of Charlie van Straubenzee and Daisy Jenks in Surrey on August 4.

Although someone else's wedding probably isn't the 37th birthday celebration Meghan had in mind, at least she isn't having to cut short a tropical holiday.

Her in-laws Prince William and Kate Middleton are reportedly returning to the UK early from the Caribbean to attend the wedding.
