How Kate Middleton is supporting Meghan during Thomas Markle tabloid drama

It's safe to say Meghan Markle's relationship with father Thomas Markle has hit a low point following his recent scathing comments about the Royal Family.

However, a close friendship between the new Duchess of Sussex and sister-in-law Kate Middleton is said to be emerging from the ashes.

Meghan, 36, has reportedly found friendship and support from the Duchess of Cambridge as she adjusts to royal life.

"Kate's made a real effort to be kind to Meghan and to include her," a royal source told Vanity Fair’s royal commentator Kate Nicholl. "They're quite different characters but they get along well."

The senior Markle was meant to walk Meghan down the aisle on May 19 for her wedding to Prince Harry, however he pulled out due to health problems in the wake of a paid photos paparazzi scandal.

Meghan has also endured the rantings of her older half-sister Samantha Markle, who has defended ‘cashing in’ on her new fame by association.

While Meghan is reportedly at 'her wit's end' over her father's recent interviews, Kate has made a point of ensuring Meghan is coping, inviting her over to Kensington Palace regularly for tea and talking her through her hardships on the phone.

"I'd say they try and see each other once a week, sometimes with Harry, sometimes Meghan goes on her own,” the source tells Nicholl.

"She's been very sympathetic to what's been going on with Meghan and her dad."

The Duchesses are said to share a love of dogs, chocolate, tennis, the English countryside and fashion.

In Thomas Markle's most recent interviews, he said, "Perhaps it would be easier for Meghan if I died. Everybody would be filled with sympathy for her. But I hope we reconcile. I'd hate to die without speaking to Meghan again."

"Kate's well aware of what Meghan is going through," the source told Vanity Fair. "Her family has been dragged through the tabloids and she knows it's not nice.

"She's made a big effort to be kind to Meghan and look out for her."
