The extraordinary infiltration by Jeffrey Epstein into some of the world's most guarded royal families has been laid bare with the latest release of emails, texts and files.

The most well-known example of Epstein's influence on a royal is that of Britain's Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, brother to King Charles III.

But Britain's monarchy is not the only one caught up in the crisis, with Epstein's reach stretching into the Norwegian and Swedish royal families, too.

The mention of the royals within the latest drop of emails do not indicate any wrongdoing.

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor

The former Duke of York, now known simply as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, was stripped of his royal titles by the King last year after it emerged that he maintained contact with Epstein until 2011, despite claiming to have cut ties a year earlier.

He is mentioned many times in the newly-released Epstein files, bringing further embarrassment to the royal family.

Andrew is now facing calls to voluntarily testify before US Congress about Epstein.

Thames Valley Police in the UK are also looking into allegations that a woman was sent to Britain by Epstein for sex with Andrew at Royal Lodge in 2010.

After spending the night with Andrew, the woman says she was given tea and a tour of Buckingham Palace.

The new Epstein files, which contain three million documents, show a photo of Andrew on all fours leaning over an unnamed woman.

Ghislaine Maxwell, in an email sent to Epstein in 2015, said the photograph Andrew with his arm around the waist of Virginia Giuffre, who was 17 at the time, was real.

Andrew has always maintained the picture is a fake and that he was at Pizza Express in Woking at the time it was allegedly taken inside Maxwell's flat in 2001.

Other damaging revelations to have emerged from Friday's document release include claims an exotic dancer was asked to have a threesome with Andrew and Epstein in Miami in 2006.

The fallout appears to have sped up Andrew's eviction from Royal Lodge, with confirmation he moved out of the Windsor mansion on Monday to a smaller property on the King's private Sandringham Estate in Norfolk.

Andrew has always strenuously denied any wrongdoing in regards to Epstein and his victims.

He remains eighth in the royal family's line of succession.

Sarah Ferguson

The emails, sent over the course of several years, also reveal how deeply Epstein was intertwined with Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson.

Andrew and Fergie's daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, are mentioned at various points in the cache of files.

One of the most shocking pieces of information to emerge is that Epstein bought plane tickets for Ferguson and her daughters so they could visit him in the US shortly after his release from prison.

It was 2009 and Epstein had just been released after serving 12 months for soliciting a child for prostitution.

Epstein would have still been under house arrest; Beatrice aged just 20 at the time and Eugenie, 19 years.

Other emails indicate a lunch took place between Ferguson, her daughters and Epstein. They dined on vegetable lasagne and salad.

In another email, sent by Epstein on July 1, 2010, he said would be in London that week and asked Ferguson about her daughters, who were then aged 21 and 20.

Another, sent on March 21, 2010, from a "Sarah" said to Epstein she was "just waiting for Eugenie to come back from a shagging weekend!!"

The context of the exchange is unknown.

The emails also reveal Andrew sent photos of his daughters to Epstein in 2010 and 2011 including one of Beatrice climbing Mont Blanc and Eugenie in in a charity bicycle ride.

The former Duchess of York has now found herself caught up in what can only be described as an excruciatingly humiliating public scandal like never before.

In one email exchange, sent in 2009, Ferguson referred to Epstein as the "brother I have always wished for". The following year, she wrote: "Xx I am at your service. Just marry me."

Another saw Ferguson beg Epstein for money following the collapse of a business venture.

"I urgently need 20,000 pounds ($27,521) for rent today," she wrote in 2009.

"The landlord has threatened to go to the newspapers if I don't pay. Any brainwaves?"

The email exchanges between Ferguson and Epstein were all dated after he was convicted in 2008 for prostituting minors.

Crown Princess Mette-Marit

Norway's Crown Princess Mette-Marit admitted to showing "poor judgement" after it emerged she had extensive contacts with Epstein stretching over several years.

The newly-released files appear to suggest Mette-Marit had exchanged more than 100 cordial emails and texts with Epstein while fully aware he had been jailed for sex offences against an underage girl in 2008.

Correspondence between the Crown Princess and Epstein began in 2011 and lasted until 2014, revealing Mette-Marit had a closer relationship with the disgraced financier than she has previously let on.

Crown Princess Mette-Marit said: "I showed poor judgement and regret having any contact with Epstein at all. It is simply embarrassing."

She also expressed her "deep sympathy and solidarity with the victims of the abuses committed by Jeffrey Epstein".

One email, sent from the Crown Princess' official account, on October 23, 2011 implies she had become aware of his initial jail term in 2008.

"Googled u after last email," she wrote. "Agree didn't look too good."

The files also revealed Mette-Marit had spent four days at Epstein's house in Palm Beach in Miami in January, 2013. But he was not present at the time.

In one email, in 2012, Mette-Marit asked Epstein whether a mother should suggest naked women carrying a surfboard for her son's wallpaper.

The son in question was likely Marius Borg Høiby, who was 15 at the time, from a previous relationship before she married Norway's heir, Crown Prince Haakon.

Høiby, now 29, is currently on trial for rape and assault in Oslo and is facing 10 years in prison if convicted.

Crown Princess Mette-Marit's links with Epstein were revealed at the weekend just days before Høiby's trial began on Tuesday.

Mette-Marit had planned to be away from Oslo on a private trip during the trial but on Wednesday the Royal House of Norway said that had now been postponed "until further notice".

The friendly nature of the emails between Mette-Marit and Epstein have appalled many in Norway.

This week, a new poll conducted on behalf of Norwegian news outlet TV2, found 47.6 per cent of people do not believe Crown Princess Mette-Marit should become Norway's next queen when the time comes.

Princess Sofia

In December, members of Sweden's royal family attended the Nobel Prize awards, an occasion regarded as one of the most important on the royal calendar.

But absent from the celebrations was Princess Sofia, who is married to Prince Carl Phillip – son of King Carl XVI Gustaf.

The Royal House of Sweden said the princess, 41, was still on maternity leave following the birth of her fourth child, Ines, in February.

She had only been seen in public at a few official events since the birth, including a palace balcony appearance for the King's birthday and later in a family photo taken at their summer residence, Solliden.

Princess Sofia is yet to return to a full-diary of royal duties.

Soon after the rest of the Swedish royals arrived at the Nobel event, news of Princess Sofia's past links with Epstein was revealed.

In 2005, a decade before her marriage to Prince Carl Philip, the princess, who was then known as Sofia Hellqvist, met with Epstein a number of times in New York.

Nothing untoward is said to have occurred during the encounters, which are believed to have taken place when Sofia was a student in Manhattan. She was there studying accounting at the New York Institute of English and Business.

Before becoming a princess, Sofia was known in Sweden as a glamour model and a reality television star.

Sofia was reportedly introduced to Epstein by Swedish business businesswoman Barbro Ehnbom, who has previously been described as a mentor to Sofia and who attended her 2015 wedding.

In December, Swedish news outlet Dagens Nyheter published emails allegedly sent between Epstein and Ehnbom that mention Sofia.

"This is Sofia, an aspiring actress who just arrived in New York," the email, translated from Swedish, allegedly said.

"She's the girl I told you about before I left, who I thought you might like to meet. Maybe we can visit before you go on holiday?"

Epstein is said to have replied, "I'm in the Caribbean. Does she want to come for a couple of days? I'll send a ticket."

This was thought to be a reference to the notorious Epstein Island, in the United States Virgin Islands.

The Royal House of Sweden later confirmed to Dagens Nyheter that Princess Sofia was "introduced to the person in question on a few occasions around 2005".

She had no contact with Epstein after 2005, the Royal House said, and did not accept the invitation to join Epstein at his island.

"The princess has not had any contact with the person in question for 20 years," the Royal House said.

Dagens Nyheter also published a 2006 email from Epstein's assistant to Ehnbom.

"Jeffrey wonders what really happened with Camilla. Did you tell her she has a ticket to New York anytime she wants?" they allegedly wrote.

Ehnbom replied, "I think he means Sofia, the little beautiful dark-haired girl who had her friend Camilla with her."

It remains unclear why Sofia met with Epstein in the first place.

Ehnbom, in an email, also claimed Epstein had offered Sofia and her friend places in an acting school but visa problems prevented them from proceeding.

In response, the Royal House said: "Princess Sofia has neither applied for nor attended any form of acting training".
