The Graham Norton Show’s famous red lounge has hosted a who’s-who of showbiz royalty through the years, and now an actual royal has joined the ranks.
Prince William has made a surprise appearance on the popular talk show – making history as the first royal to do so – for a special Earthshot Prize episode that will air on Friday in the UK.

Norton was speaking with celebrity guests Cate Blanchett, Robert Irwin and Hannah Waddingham, who are all involved in the environmental initiative, when the Prince of Wales emerged on set, sparking gasps from the audience.
William, who founded the Earthshot Prize, discussed the need for optimism and urgency when tackling climate change.
“There are some amazing people out there doing things to protect the world. We could really highlight what is being done, and scale them to the next level to have more impact around the world,” he said.
It wasn’t all shop talk, however, with the dad of three also discussing pop culture, revealing the Wales family is hooked on hit TV series The Celebrity Traitors.
“I love it, the family love it. Charlotte and Louis are obsessed with it. It’s really goodtelly,” he told Norton.
“I saw Ross Kemp the day after the first episode and I couldn’t help but try, in the most appropriate way, to touch him to see what reaction I got from him. Turns out he was really jumpy!”
The future king also revealed music and film are how he switches off.
“I love getting immersed in deep-thinking films. I like action films too, but I like something a bit different,” he said.

“I’m a big fan of everything Christopher Nolan does. His films are fantastic. The Dark Knight series is psychologically dark and deep, and I absolutely love that.
“He takes concepts that are completely out there and makes them incredibly entertaining.”
William’s career path was set in stone at birth, but he did reveal two professions he’d considered if the opportunity arose.
“I did want to be a policeman when I was younger, I thought I couldmake a good one,” he said.
“And then I went through a phase of wanting to be a DJ. I wasn’t very good.”
