Model with ties to royal family engaged after chance meeting on a plane sparks whirlwind romance

Model Maddison May Brudenell, a cousin of King Charles, is engaged after meeting a man during an eight-hour flight.

Brudenell, 29 – who is Louis Mountbatten's great-granddaughter and the granddaughter of Lady Pamela Hicks, cousin of the late Prince Philip – is set to wed Canadian man Bret Kapetanov.

Kapetanov, who works as a welder, has moved to the UK to be with Brudenell.

The model previously married to DJ Olaoluwa Modupe-Ojo in 2015, but the couple later divorced. They share three children.

Sharing a photo of her ring on Instagram, she wrote, "My knight in shining armour."

Brudenell met her first husband at a fashion show in 2013 and welcomed their first child months later.

Following their divorce, she focused on picking up the pieces before meeting her new partner.

A friend told Daily Mail the former model has found happiness.

"Bret is a really nice guy and is good for her," the friend said.

"She and Ola had been growing apart for some time and are now supporting each other as co-parents."

Brudenell began her modelling career at the age of 16, working for a short time with Ralph Lauren.

She left the industry after struggling with her mental health.
