"An Aussie pie isn't just food, it's tradition wrapped in pastry. We don't just eat pies—we grow up with them. A pie in hand is practically a national love language," Nutritionist and MyFitnessPal ambassador, Michaela Sparrow, said.
"The data from MyFitnessPal shows that the humble meat pie continues to be the overwhelming favourite amongst Aussies, enjoyed all hours of the day."
As a MyFitnessPal ambassador, Sparrow did take the time to explain why Aussies can enjoy pies "without guilt".
"The good news is that there are ways to enjoy pies without guilt. For example, vegetable-loaded pies, like spinach, mushroom, lentil, or mixed veg, are typically higher in fiber, vitamins, and minerals, which help with digestion and overall health.

"Pairing your favourite pie with a side salad or veggies and keeping portions reasonable also helps to enjoy Australia's most beloved food tradition."
Although this advice may not help when it comes to apple, banoffee, and lemon meringue pies, but what's health kick without the occasional splurge.
While meat pies can be traced back to Ancient Egypt, it was soon taken up by the Romans who brought the pies to Britain where they evolved into the pies we know today.
Meat pies then spread across the UK before moving to Australia and New Zealand.
