The $25 Kmart buy making special breakfasts quick and easy

Breakfast, as they say, is the most important meal of the day and is even more important when there is a special occasion.
Whether it's a birthday, Mother's Day or Valentine's Day, whipping up something a little bit fancier than toast or cereal shows you care and want to treat the person you're celebrating.
But when it comes to actually making that special breakfast time, energy and even skill can make it hard to pull the meal together.
Not anymore though, because I have found the perfect solution that not only makes waffles in minutes, it also stamps delightful shapes on them too.

The multi plate waffle maker is just $25 and a kitchen cupboard friendly size that means it won't take up much space at all.
One of the plates is the traditional waffle pattern and it sits on the bottom half of the appliance and then you can switch out the top plate depending on what you want to convey.
There is a cute bow design that works well for everyday use, a heart shape with the word cutie – perfect for Valentine's Day – and a noughts and crosses game with hearts in between the Xs and Os.

To make breakfast even quicker I used a waffle mix from the supermarket that just needed milk added. You can also use pancake mix or make your own waffle mix from scratch – the waffle maker instructions include a recipe to get you started.
After heating up the plates I lightly oiled them, as per the instructions and then poured my first waffle.
I accidentally poured too much in and the batter spilled over a little, which was a lesson learned that I repeated a couple more times but I soon got the hang of it.
Even with that little faux pas I could see how quick and easy it was to make these cute waffles.

I started with the noughts and crosses design and later tried the bow and then the cutie plates.
Each waffle takes only a few minutes to cook so you can set up a plate with a tea towel on it to cover and keep the waffles warm as you go and then they'll be ready when the VIP wakes up.
I love that the waffle maker is a small size because it means I can make a few for myself when I'm on my own for breakfast to treat myself.
It's also a great way to prepare breakfast for a commute or snacks to take to work or school because they keep well for the next day. Add a bit of butter and jam and sandwich two together to keep the spreads intact and you have a delicious breakfast or morning tea to take with you.

Cleaning is also easy with the plates popping out with the push of a button and a wipe with some hot soapy water enough to get them looking good again.
To make the waffles even more special add their favourite topping – I like maple syrup – and some strawberries and blueberries on the side. You can even add ice cream or yoghurt if you like.
Then pop on a pretty placemat or tray and add their beverage of choice.
Once your special breakfast is ready the only thing better than the waffle maker will be the delighted look on their face when they see the effort you've gone to and the cute details on the waffles.
