'Believed it could be better': McDonald's relaunches chicken burger
McDonald's is relaunching their McCrispy burger and McCrispy Deluxe.
The new chicken burgers will be available in stores from Wednesday, September 24 and will be "crispy, crunchier and juicer" than the originals.
A spokesperson for Maccas tells nine.com.au: "The McCrispy was a hit with Aussies the first time around, however there were still some that believed it could be better.

"We know how passionate Aussies are about their chicken burgers. With our focus on growing our chicken portfolio, we've taken things to the next level – delivering what Aussies love in a great fried chicken burger.
"The result is our new McCrispy – it's the crunchiest, juiciest, most mouthwatering fried chicken burger we've ever served."

McDonald's has been focused on securing part of the lucrative chicken fast food market, expanding on their range of chicken items in 2025, with the spokesperson confirming the fast food giant's "focus on growing our chicken portfolio"
The McDonald's McCrispy currently retails for $9.15 and the McCrispy Deluxe sells for $10.55. It isn't known if the re-released chicken burgers will remain at the same price point.
An independent survey commissioned McDonald's Australia found that 46 per cent wanted a "crispy crunch" with a crispy chicken burger, 24 per cent wanted the chicken to be "juicy" and eight percent wanted a "perfect sauce pairing".

The new McCrispy promises all of this and comes with a new creamy ranch sauce.
Amanda Nakad, Marketing Director of Menu and Brand for McDonald's Australia said: "With McWings launched earlier this year, and now the McCrispy, we're showing just how seriously we take chicken.
"Macca's is here to satisfy every craving – chicken included."
McDonald's added McWings to their permanent menu in June 2025 after they proved to be a big hit.
McDonalds says this is the beginning of a "golden era of chicken".
"It's been a while since we have added something new to the permanent menu, but the response to Chicken McWings during the trial made it clear: Aussies want more chicken options with their order," says Nakad.

McDonald's current range of chicken items includes the McCrispy and McCrispy Deluxe as well as the McSpicy and original McChicken.
Customers can also choose from their Chicken 'n Cheese burger and a Chicken McMuffin and Chicken & Bacon McMuffin and popular Chicken McNuggets. McDonald's also sells a range of chicken wraps.
While KFC is the GOAT of the fast food fried chicken industry in Australia, chicken products have been added to other popular fast food menus including McDonald's as well as pizza chains Dominos and Pizza Hut.

At Dominos customers can chose from a range of chicken products on their Chicken Sides menu including chicken tenders, southern fried chicken bites, chicken nuggets, and seasoned chicken wings. Pizza Hut sells WingStreet chicken wings in six flavours as well as chicken pizzas.
These items are in addition to their chicken pizzas that form part of their permanent menus.
