Cadbury reveal when popular item will return after bizarrre online trend saw them stripped from shelves

The Cadbury Pascall Clinkers challenge has seen supermarkets stripped bare of the popular confectionary, with fans wondering when stocks will return.

Nine.com.au contacted Cadbury to find out when this will happen, and they sent through a delightful reply written in the colours of Clinkers – pink, yellow and green – which we greatly appreciated.

A Cadbury spokesperson tells nine.com.au the company has been "watching the Clinkers Challenge explode on TikTok and we are loving it! It's fantastic to see so much creativity and fun surrounding our product".

"Yes, the excitement surrounding the Clinkers Challenge has definitely contributed to the incredible demand. We simply couldn't keep up with the buzz."

Our own efforts to local Clinkers ended in utter failure this week.

Our local Coles and Woolworths were completely sold out, as was The Reject Shop and Aldi where they are sometimes stock.

We ended up trying our local IGA but they too had sold out but delivered Maltesers instead, which wasn't a total loss.

Cadbury told us they know "everyone's eager to know when Clinkers will be back in stores".

The Clinkers Challenge, which was brought to our attention by a colleague with a teenager daughter, involves using Clinkers to make choices about everything from wearing our hair up or down, if we should get tattoos, and even more significant life choices like breaking up with partners.

Indecisive Clinkers lovers simply choose a Clinkers colour, they then state what may happen, and if they bite into the Clinker and get that colour, or if the "Clinker clinks", my daughter explained to me, that's what is meant to happen.

Cadbury's plan to make an announcement soon and have told customers to keep an eye out and won't confirm a specific date, but it should be sometime in October.

"Our team at the factory are working around the clock to bring Clinkers back to shelves as soon as possible," the spokesperson said.

"We want everyone to have the chance to enjoy them!"

Videos of people using the Clinkers Challenge have flooded TikTok over the past month.

Until then, we have all be left to make everyday choices they old fashioned way – with Scissors Paper Rock, asking family members and friends, flipping coins or even by using a newer decision-making method, trusty AI.

But decision making methods go, the Clinkers method is certainly a fun and delicious one.

We too cannot wait for stocks to be replenished soon.
