Hold on to your hotcakes: Macca’s is bringing all-day breakfast back in one state

The days of smashing a Bacon & Egg McMuffin at 3pm are finally back – for one part of the country, at least.
All day breakfast has returned to Macca’s for the first time since 2021, with a trial rolling out in Victoria from Wednesday.

Fast food lovers across the state will be able to order popular menu items including the Bacon & Egg McMuffin, Big Brekkie Burger and Hotcakes from 4am to 11:59pm.
The chain’s decision to scrap its all day breakfast five years ago – with the exception of hash browns, a delicious consolation prize – broke hearts around the country.
A spokesperson told nine.com.au the move to stop selling breakfast items at 10:30am (this was extended to 11:30am earlier this year) in October 2021 came as Macca’s “adapted its operations to support demand across the day and better serve customers during peak periods”.

“We know our customers value both the iconic Macca’s brekkie menu and the convenience of enjoying it at a time that suits them,” they added.
“The trial will give Victorian customers the opportunity to enjoy our full breakfast menu from 4am through to 11:59pm, and we’ll be listening closely to customer feedback throughout the process.”
The revival of the Macca’s all-day brekky comes two months after KFC confirmed a rollout of its breakfast menu.
After a successful trial at Sydney Airport, the franchise decided to expand its Morning Meals offering, which includes items like avocado toast, hash browns, a bacon and egg roll and a Zinger brekkie tower.

“KFC is continuing to work with our franchise partners to bring Morning Meals to more restaurants across the country,” a spokesperson told nine.com.au.
Consumer psychologist and Thinkerbell founder Adam Ferrier previously told nine.com.au breakfast is “the last great frontier” for fast food.
“McCafé was incredibly successful for McDonald’s and was an Australian invention, [Guzman Y Gomez] has done brekkie pretty successfully,” he said.
“These chains have helped change consumer attitudes towards breakfast and fast foods, so now KFC at breakfast doesn’t seem like a bad option.”
