Oh, buoy: 'Fisherman' baby names are tipped to be big in 2025
When it comes to new trends taking over the world of baby names, there's always something a bit left of field that comes up.
But there's a new style of names Pinterest is tipping to be big in 2025 and we've got a feeling plenty of dads out there are going to love it: Maritime, nautical, fisherman.
Baby name expert Sonya, who goes by @thebbnamer on Instagram, has dived into the trend and offered some options for parents who are in need of names for their son.

"Now this is a fishing inspired trend I can get around," she said in the clip.
Sonya then rattled off some of her fisherman-inspired baby names.
She kicked off the list with Cormac and Lachlan.
"A name that I personally can't get around, but it is so maritime, nautical fisherman, he's got a profile photo with him and a fish, maybe he has a Jeremiah the bullfrog fish in his house? Graham," she continued.

Sonya then listed off the names Arden, Mac and Ewan.
"My favourite fisherman, fisher-boy, fisher baby name, Ernest – with Ernie, so cute," she said.
Other options that nail the trend include Dean, Elmer and Jess.
When it comes to Jess, she likes either Jess or Jesse for a boy, it's really whatever you vibe more with.
"Whichever one you prefer is the coolest little fisherman baby boy name," she added.
At the end of the clip she asked, "Would you add your father's name?" to the list.
Once again dad names are shooting into the spotlight, with one of the biggest name trends predicted for this year being the genre of 'My Best Friend's Dad's name'.
US baby name consultant Colleen Slagen spoke about the trend in late 2024 and explained that old-fashioned boys' names are due for a big comeback.
