The 78th Primetime Emmy Awards may be television’s biggest night, but the ceremony is only where half of the fun happens.

After the official awards ceremony, stars left the Peacock Theatre behind and spilled out across Los Angeles for a constellation of after parties with cast mates, collaborators and friends.

Many swapped their formal red carpet looks for bolder, more playful after-party outfits with plenty of sequins and bold cut-outs.

“First annual meeting of the Emmys beard squad,” wrote Jimmy Kimmel as the host snapped a selfie with fellow stars including John Oliver and Jon Stewart.

The Parent Trap star Lisa Ann Walter shares a backstage snap with Jon Stewart, Molly McNearney and Mark Ruffalo (who frankly, looks ready to party).

Well, looks like Martin Short won’t be needing this any more.

Steve Martin posted a ripped up version of what would have been his co-star’s acceptance speech had he won Outstanding Lead Actor for Only Murders in the Building.

“Best ripped up speech award goes to Marty 💛,” commented one fan online. Iconic.

And the most comfy after party look goes to Kristen Bell who plans to be in bed by 9pm, and we love that for her.

Most people bring a date to the Emmy’s after party, but David Harbour brought his first-ever Emmy trophy.

The DTF St. Louis star, 51, won Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited series and shared a special moment with his err ... award heading to the HBO reception party.

Why so sad, Megan Stalter? Probably because she’ll soon have to change out of her literally Emmys look for the after party shenanigans.

Either that, or the comedian’s lost half her costume – her golden wings? Her golden ball? We’d be bummed too.

Holland skipped the red carpet and made a sneaky entrance into the theatre to be right by Zendaya’s side.

It was a big night for Rhea Seehorn who won Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for Pluribus.

She beat out fellow nominee Carrie Coon for The Gilded Age, but clearly there was no love lost between the so-called rivals who embraced one another as they smiled for photographers.
