'It's with a heavy heart': Walker star Jared Padalecki shares 'sad' update about the future of hit-drama series

It's a sad day for Walker fans.

Walker star Jared Padalecki today revealed the much-loved series will not be returning for a fifth season.

Padalecki, who stars as the lead role and serves as an executive producer on Walker, shared the "heartbreaking" update on Instagram with fans.

"Howdy y'all. It is with a heavy heart that I share this news with you," he began in a lengthy post.

"#Walker will not be airing on #CW for a fifth season," he confirmed.

"It's a tough piece of news to be sure, but we are SO thankful for the #WalkerFamily that has been built, both on set and off.

"After four seasons together, we have felt the love and support from the entire #WalkerFamily, and we will be forever grateful."

Padalecki, who rose to fame as Sam Winchester on Supernatural for a mammoth 15 seasons, took on the iconic role of Walker when the hit-drama premiered in 2021.

After three incredible years, Padalecki sent a heart-warming message to fans.

"Too often, we get to be the ones receiving the praise and gratitude and flattery and, all too often, we miss the opportunity to put it back where it belongs… WITH THE FANS!" he continued.

"In this world, home isn't a 'place'; it's a relationship. 'Places' can be lost. 'Relationships' can live forever. Our gratitude and love for the entire #WalkerFamily will live forever.

"It has been a unique honour to be a part of the cast and crew (and fandom!) that helped #Walker tell the stories that we told.

"I will forever smile on the years I got to spend with the cast and crew and studio and network and fandom that made this all possible."

"Til we ride again. 🤠❤️," he concluded.

Friends and fans were devastated by the news, with one follower writing: "I'm so incredibly heartbroken. I loved this show so much. I was ready to fight for another season."

"This makes me so incredibly sad," wrote another. "I've been there from episode one... ❤️ it's been a crazy ride and I'm not ready to let go yet 😔💔."

"This absolutely breaks my heart💔 I hope y'all know how much you're loved. ❤️🤠," said another.
