'Didn't forsee this': Andy Lee uncovers disturbing 'poo problem' in 1876 Melbourne home purchased with fiancée Rebecca Harding

Andy Lee has made quite the "brave" discovery while renovating his 1876 Melbourne property this week.

The Hundred host "always knew he'd encounter problems" while restoring the stunning 148-year-old Melbourne River home, but none like this.

"I didn't foresee this one 🐦💩," wrote Andy alongside a 'news bulletin' he put together for fans.

Andy purchased the property with fiancée Rebecca Harding in 2021.

"I've just been told we have a poo problem," he declared to the camera.

A problem that's been years in the making.

The footage flashed back to May 2024 when builder Luke first encountered the problem, a problem they thought they had solved.

"This place has been left abandoned and it's in a really poor state," he said at the start of the mammoth renovation project.

"Some point in time someone started a renovation, pulled down the fireplaces which has left the building open to the elements.

"Pigeons have made themselves a home up there," he said gesturing to the inside of the roof.

His builder revealed they had a whole team upstairs removing the pigeon poo, wearing protective gear and all.

"They're very brave men for getting up there," he laughed.

More than one year on and the post revealed Luke and his team are still scraping poo off the frames.

With Andy documenting every moment, they said: "We've got years of poo build-up... pigeon poo, rat poo, possum poo."

"Have you ever seen a ceiling with this much poo in it?!"

This isn't the first unusual discovery Andy and Bec have made in the heritage home.

"We've found a couple of trinkets as we've started cleaning up the place," Andy told 9Entertainment as his renovations kicked off.

"Mainly it was just cleaning out seaweed because they used seaweed as insulation back in the year which is pretty weird."

"A hundred years ago they used to use seaweed as insulation. We'll probably eat that for lunch later to save some money," he joked.

"There's been a few other little discoveries," he continued. "We found a coin from 1897, I think it was, which is pretty cool."

After purchasing the home for $8.5 million in 2021, Andy and Bec officially began sharing the restoration process with fans in November 2023.

In that time the building team has done demolition work, excavation and even got started on the space where Andy will have his very own golf simulator.

It's no doubt a very special base for the pair with Andy even proposing to Bec at the home in May 2024.
