Grammy-winning singer collapses on stage mid-show in Nashville

Grammy-winning singer Ray LaMontagne collapsed on stage during a live performance in Nashville this week, leaving fans concerned.

The 53-year-old was singing his 2004 song Jolene to a crowd of thousands when he suddenly stopped and fell to the ground with his guitar in hand.

A video of the moment, taken by a fan and circulating online, showed the audience gasping as two band members rushed to the folk singer’s side.

The show was brought to an early close, but the singer is reported to be “doing well” and is being treated for health-related dehydration.

LaMontagne’s team released a statement to his Instagram Stories updating fans on the singer’s health, as reported by multiple US outlets.

“Thank you to everyone who came out to tonight’s show at the Ryman,” the statement read.

“Ray is in good hands with the local EMS [Emergency Medical Services] and is being treated for heat related dehydration, he is doing well now and is grateful for everyone’s understanding.”

The statement added that LaMontagne is “looking forward” to being back on stage for his Louisville show scheduled for the next night, as part of his Trouble 20th Anniversary Tour.

Fans took to the comments of the video and the singer’s Instagram page to send well wishes to the star.

“I hope you’re ok! Was at your show tonight and am seriously worried about you,” one wrote.

“There’s been a heat advisory in Nashville... he prob was dehydrated before show,” a second fan chipped in.

“Just saw him at Red Rocks. He certainly gives 💯 percent! Glad he’s ok,” commented a third.

LaMontagne won a Grammy for Best Contemporary Folk Album in 2011 for his record God Willin’ & the Creek Don’t Rise.

That same year he was nominated for Song of the Year for hit rack Beg, Steal or Borrow.
