All the biggest Marvel news to come out of Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con
Over the years, Comic-Con’s Hall H has been home to Marvel’s biggest, most exciting announcements.
Think back to 2010 when the concept of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) was formed by assembling a cast of actors from separate franchises to announce a new film soon to begin production, The Avengers.

Or in 2014 when Josh Brolin took to the stage to confirm his role as Thanos, launching his hand in the air Breakfast Club style, while wearing the Infinity Gauntlet.
Perhaps the most exciting announcement came last year, when a row of actors in green hoods and Doctor Doom masks walked onto the stage, one by one revealing themselves, only for the final reveal to be none other than Robert Downey Jr. himself. He would be returning to the MCU.
Safe to say that this year, we were on the edge of our seats, glued to our social feeds as we watched the updates roll in from San Diego Comic-Con.
Some were shocking, some were exciting, and some were just straight-up confusing. Here are all the biggest Marvel announcements to come out of Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con.
Ryan Gosling is Ghost Rider
Perhaps the most exciting news to come out of this year’s event is that Ryan Gosling will be joining the MCU as Ghost Rider.
Gosling is set to take on the role of the supernatural hero under the leadership of director Shawn Levy, with the film slated for release in 2028.

For years now, Gosling has spoken about his hopes to one day star as Ghost Rider in the MCU, with journalist and Happy Sad Confused host Josh Horowitz playing a major role in the announcement.
Horowitz was one of the first to speak to Gosling about wanting to play the character, later conveying the actor’s wishes to Marvel CEO Kevin Feige.
As part of a bit during the Spider-Man: Brand New Day press conference, Horowitz asked Feige again about Gosling as Ghost Rider from the crowd, before the lights went dark and the star appeared on stage.
“As you know, this is a character I’ve wanted to play for a very long time. So, Kevin, Josh Horowitz, Hall H, thank you,” Gosling said.
Ghost Rider also has a personal tie to the Project Hail Mary star, with his partner Eva Mendes starring in the 2007 adaptation as Roxanne Simpson alongside Nicolas Cage’s Ghost Rider.
With fans excited about Gosling’s venture into the MCU, there was an elephant in the room. Many are concerned about the film being under Levy’s direction, with many claiming he panders to the wishes of studio executives rather than having a unique style of his own.

But only time will tell if what he and Gosling make together will flop or fly.
David Jonsson is the new Black Panther
Director Ryan Coogler delivered potentially the most anticipated Marvel news of the year, announcing that not only is Black Panther 3 on its way – we also have a new star.
Following the death of Chadwick Boseman, the original T’Challa, the Black Panther franchise was left with a question mark hanging over its head.
However, when Wakanda Forever was released, we were introduced to T’Challa’s grown son right at the film’s end, who would clearly take on the persona of the Black Panther.

At Comic Con, Coogler revealed David Jonsson will take on the role in Black Panther 3, set to hit cinemas on December 15, 2028.
They addressed the concerns around the Avengers: Doomsday trailer
When the Avengers: Doomsday trailer dropped last week fans had one major critique: There was absolutely no evidence of the relationship between Reed Richards (Mr Fantastic) and Doctor Doom.
Basically, Doctor Doom’s entire villain origin story revolves around his relationship with Richards, yet in the trailer Richards and The Fantastic Four always seemed to simply be lingering in the background.
But those inside Hall H have confirmed that exclusive footage from the film was shown, which made it clear that Richards and his wife Sue Storm (Invisible Woman) have a complicated history with the villain.

When Pedro Pascal (Richards) and Downey Jr. were asked if Reed and Doom would have a history in the film, the pair looked at each other before Pascal simply responded, “besties!”
Deadpool made a surprise appearance
One of the other questions hanging over the head of Avengers: Doomsday is whether Ryan Reynolds will make an appearance as Deadpool.
The collective decision of the internet seems that we’d all love to see our favourite mercenary join forces with the world’s mightiest heroes, but Marvel have been incredibly tight-lipped on the topic until now.
As the cast and filmmakers were on stage in Hall H, they were met with a surprise guest in the audience: Ryan Reynolds in a grey Deadpool suit pretending to be a fan named Ricky.
Reynolds pretended to be a fan in cosplay, but it was clear by his demeanour and voice who was really behind the mask. Jesse Grant
“Long-time listener, first time caller. Huuuge fan, look at that cast,” he said.
“I do have a question, actually ... This seems an awfully expensive way to announce a film. When do you start filming?”
Robert Downey Jr. responded, saying “it’s in the can”, before Gosling asked to make sure that there were no opportunities for “last-minute additions”.
Then, director Anthony Russo joked that they will “keep making the movie until they pry it out of our hands”.
So, it seems like Marvel might be teasing a potential Deadpool appearance here.
The world will find out when Avengers: Endgame hits cinemas on December 18, 2026.
