During an episode of her vodcast, The Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg Show, McCarthy spoke about being diagnosed with mycotoxin poisoning by a doctor in December 2025.
She claimed she had fallen ill after spending time in an old dressing room with “air conditioning from 1950”, believing she was affected by the mould in the room.
She suspected that the air-conditioning unit was the root of the problem after her make-up artist, “who only works on me in that dressing room”, also started experiencing health issues.
McCarthy said she was on her seventh month of detox from mould poisoning.
She shared that her first symptom was a terrible, reoccurring infected root canal for which she had to undergo nine separate surgeries in 2025.
McCarthy also struggled with constant cysts on her eye, going through months of painful eye surgeries.
She detailed debilitating symptoms including severe skin rashes, food allergies, insomnia and a small intestinal bacterial overgrowth.
“That’s where this journey has brought me,” McCarthy said.

“After all of those surgeries, after being diagnosed with mycotoxin poisoning, I feel a little bit sometimes crazy and like the walls are caving in and paranoid.”
Since her diagnosis, McCarthy remediated her entire house of mould, which was performed by a specialist for tens of thousands of dollars.
Despite having specialists remove the mould in her house, McCarthy felt the need to continue to lie in the tent outside her California home.

“I don’t have to worry about rain in California, but I do worry about chemtrails and also sprinklers,” she said, showcasing her outdoor living arrangement.
“You have to have the contractors come in and rebuild your house … and then you hear, you have to get rid of all your furniture, you have to get rid of all your clothes,” she said.
The mother-of-one felt that she even developed PTSD from the ordeal.
“They talk about people with mould poisoning having PTSD. I’m still in the traumatic part. I’m not even in the ‘post’ part yet, because I feel like now everything is mould. I can detect mould, honestly, like a mould dog,” she said.
