'All they see is a winner': Ryan Reynolds reveals why he's trying to teach his kids to fail
There's no doubt that being a parent in the spotlight is hard, but Ryan Reynolds admits that it's brought an unexpected challenge.
The 49-year-old Hollywood star has come to realise that his four kids, James, 10, Inez, nine, Betty, six, and Olin, two, who he shares with wife Blake Lively, have never actually seen him truly fail, and it's something that is starting to concern him.
"My kids, all they see is a winner," he told The Wall Street Journal at the CMO Council Summit in November.

"And that's the thing I worry about most with this [Hollywood] ecosystem you're talking about here is, like, when I go outside, I get pats on the back, and it's a selfie parade and I oblige everyone, pretty much. And my kids only see that," he continued.
"So I've learned lately to make sure to talk about the failures and how that is literally the base and ingredient for everything else."
The father-of-four has seen plenty of success in Hollywood, with roles in movies like Deadpool, but also with other ventures like his purchase of the Welsh soccer club Wrexham and his activism.

But during the CMO Council Summit, Reynolds opened up about one of his biggest career failures and admitted he cannot escape it.
The actor is well-known for his role in the critically panned movie, Green Lantern, which has long been roasted online since it's 2011 release.
"You laugh, but my son, it's his favourite movie and he watches it every f---ing day," Reynolds joked of the infamous DC film.
"Do you understand the work I've had to do to get to the place where I can just pass by that screen and not go, 'Well, we could have [done something to make it better]?'"
Reynolds, who met his wife Lively on the set of the movie, explained that at the time of filming he was quite a people pleaser, which added to his regrets about the role.
"That was a time in my life when I was 'Yes, sir, no, sir. How high can I jump, sir?' You sit there and you go, 'I have really strong thoughts and opinions on a creative matter,' and someone else on another movie, I remember, made a creative decision, and I thought, 'Well, that's a nail in a coffin that I alone will lie in.' And it's true," he explained.
"They don't say, 'This producer's movie flopped,' or 'This director's [movie flopped].' That's me. So if I'm going to be on that headline, I'd like to be the architect of my own demise – or success."
Reynolds and Lively are notoriously private when it comes to their family, choosing to keep a lot of the details about their kids close.
