Two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitová welcomes first child with her husband-turned-coach
Two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitová has another impressive title to add to her resume: mother.
The 34-year-old Czech tennis star and her husband Jiri Vanek have welcomed her first child into the world, a baby son named Petr.
Kvitová announced the happy news on Instagram to her 685,000 followers with a sweet photo of her son's hand wrapped around her finger, with Vanek's hand also in the shot.

She also took the opportunity to reveal her newborn's name, Petr – which is the Czech spelling of the name Peter. It's also a sweet nod to her own name, Petra, the feminine version of Peter.
Plenty of the athlete's friends and followers congratulated the new parents on their bundle of joy.

Petr was born on July 7 and Kvitová revealed the baby news on social media just a day later.
The tennis star and her husband, who have been dating since 2021, married in July 2023. Vanek is also her tennis coach.

It was only fitting that Kvitová announced her son's birth in the middle of Wimbledon 2024.
The new mum last played in the British tennis championships in 2023 and holds two Grand Slam singles titles, with 31 WTA singles titles to her name.
She was the Wimbledon champion in 2011 and 2014, respectively.
When she announced her pregnancy news, Kvitová revealed she would be putting her tennis career on hold as she prepared for motherhood.

"On the first day of 2024 I wanted to wish you a happy new year and share the exciting news that Jiri and I will be welcoming a baby into our family this summer!" Kvitova said in early 2024.
"While I will miss my annual trip to Australia and competing in the sport I love, I'm looking forward to spending some time at home preparing for this exciting next chapter in our lives," she added.
