Exclusive: Todd Woodbridge is up for a Gold Logie, but he’s not the only one in the Woodbridge family that’s in the showbiz industry.

His son Beau, 24, has a career in musical theatre and he’s never shy to give his dad advice about his stage presence.

“[Beau] tells me I’m a terrible actor!” Todd laughed to nine.com.au on the Logies red carpet.

“He says I overact all the time and I said, ’Well I’ve never had an acting lesson in my life. Not that I’m even acting. But he does.”

“I actually talk to him quite a bit about what I should do, how I should do things and so he’s a pretty good shoulder to lean on.

“He’s only young but he gives good advice.”

Despite already having gold in the form of an Olympic medal, Todd says winning a Gold Logie would “rate right up there”.

“Funny thing is people would think that [Olympic gold] is the highest achievement but with a transition into a new career [from sporting to entertainment] this would be the ultimate.

“Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be standing with a chance at Gold.”

In the space of just three years, Todd transitioned from a career in tennis, to sports broadcast and then as Tipping Point Australia host.

Todd’s rein as game show host has marked a totally new era for him, he shared that a new generation of viewers recognise him as ‘the Tipping Point guy’ rather than as a tennis player.

Just days ago, Todd celebrated 500 episodes of Tipping Point and looked back on just how far he’d come.

“The fans have been incredibly loyal. They love it. I like to think that it’s a quiz show that’s light entertainment and people can have a laugh, but there are real emotions involved,” he said.

Todd is nominated for the Gold Logie for Most Popular Personality on Australian Television and Tipping Point is nominated for Best Entertainment Program.
