Simple reason Emma Watkins wasn't at the Wiggles documentary premiere

It seems the whole Wiggles family gathered to celebrate the release of the group's new documentary… well, with one absence.

Hot Potato: The Story of The Wiggles premiered on Thursday evening, and we eagerly awaited to see the reunion of Wiggles past and present.

But when we saw the images, we were left with an Emma Watkins-shaped hole in our heart.

Watkins was the firstwoman to join the group, and was quickly beloved by Wiggles fans.

However, she hung up the Yellow Skivvy in 2021 to pursue other career aspirations.

She now works as Emma Memma, a children's entertainment character focusing on a whole new style of communication.

Watkins' career as Emma Memma has taken off, and that's exactly why she had to miss the premiere.

On Thursday evening, she was on the other side of the country for a book signing in Perth for her new release Emma Memma's Alphabet Day.

Thankfully, though, the audience at least got a glimpse of the former Yellow Wiggle when she was interviewed in the documentary.

Although Watkins wasn't in attendance, our Wiggle-loving appetites were well fed with many familiar faces appearing at the premiere, including all four founding members.

Original Wiggles Jeff Fatt, Murray Cook, Greg Page, and Anthony Field all seemed overjoyed to be apart of the momentous occasion, and they were joined by plenty of other cast members from years past and present.

The documentary was well received by audience members, and we won't spoil too much here, but we would say it's definitely worth a watch.
