Producer's wife horrified after he reveals he deleted Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce wedding invite

Like many of us, Melissa Garner Lee watched the rolling updates of celebrities arriving at Madison Square Garden for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding.

But unlike the rest of us, she had just realised she could have been among them – if her music producer husband had not deleted their invitation thinking it was spam.

Garner Lee, a marriage and family therapist, is married to Jacknife Lee, whose real name is Garret Lee, a producer who worked with Swift on The Last Time, a song featured on her 2012 album Red, and its 2021 Taylor’s Version re-recording.

“Wait, why weren’t we invited? There are a thousand people there!” Garner Lee recalled asking in a HuffPost op-ed.

“I got a text, but I thought it was spam,” her husband said.

“Yeah – remember I told you I got a text from her manager? But I didn’t respond to it. It didn’t sound like him.”

It turned out Lee had not even clicked on the invite.

“I thought someone was trying to hack my address book or something,” Lee said, before apologising for the mistake and suggesting that with the New York heatwave, perhaps it was for the best.

“We were invited to the wedding of the decade and we didn’t go because it might be too hot? We didn’t even RSVP ‘no’. How rude is that? (Sorry Taylor and Travis!)” Garner Lee wrote.

If Lee had not deleted their invitation, the couple would’ve been among 1000 guests at the star-studded event, which was estimated to have cost up to $43 million.

Esther Lee, the editorial director at wedding technology company The Knot Worldwide, told Page Six this included an estimated $7 million on flowers and decor and $3.6 million to $4.3 million on food.

In her op-ed, Garner Lee said the wedding would have given her “hope for some good in the world” (and she would have loved to hear Stevie Nicks perform too, obviously).

Though it was not to be, thankfully the start of Swift and Kelce’s marriage did not bring an end to the Lees.

After another apology and dinner from her favourite restaurant, all was forgiven.

“A missed wedding will not be what breaks us. We’re stronger than that,” Lee said. “Still, it would’ve been fun to see her dress.”
