Stars react as Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce announce their engagement - and even Donald Trump weighs in

Taylor Swift's diehard fans went into a meltdown over the singer's engagement to NFL star Travis Kelce – and now, some of the world's biggest names have reacted.

Swift, 35, announced the news on Instagram, sharing pictures from the couple's stunning garden engagement and writing: "Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨."

Even US President Donald Trump has been asked about the engagement of two of America's biggest names, and he said in a video shared by NBC News, ''Well, I wish them a lot of luck."

"I think he's a great player and a great guy and I think she's a terrific person, so I wish them a lot of luck."

It's a surprising comment, as Trump has previously slammed the singer.

When Swift endorsed Kamala Harris in the 2024 US Presidential election, he responded via his social media platform Truth Social, writing in all caps, "I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!"

Just three months ago, asked followers on Truth Social: "Has anyone noticed that, since I said 'I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,' she's no longer 'HOT?'"

Meanwhile, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese addressed the engagement at the 2025 Bush Summit.

"With due respect to myself and Jodie [his fiancée], I think Tay Tay's wedding will probably be bigger... it's great news, I think it's fantastic," he said.

"At a time when you pick up a paper, with respect, any paper in the world and there's a lot of negative news, that's the nature of news... It's fantastic people falling in love, it's great. Good luck to them."

Elsewhere, Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, reportedly "liked" Swift's Instagram post – despite the engagement news possibly overshadowing the launch of season two of her cooking and lifestyle show, With Love, Meghan, which dropped on Netflix overnight.

The likes of Alyson Hannigan, Addison Rae, Ricki Lake, Wynonna Judd and Jennifer Love Hewitt also publicly shared their support for Swift by liking the post, which at the time of publication has more than 20 million likes.

The singer's sister-in-law to be, Kylie Kelce, also liked the post. She is married to Travis' NFL star brother, Jason Kelce.

Sabrina Carpenter, the singer who supported Swift on her recent Erass Tour, reacted to the news, resharing the engagement pictures on her Instagram stories.

She added a series of white love hearts to the post, and used the same Swift song Taylor added to her original post, So High School.

Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay reacted to the news, sharing a post to his followers congratulating the newly-engaged couple.

In reference to the NFL star's superbowl ring, he wrote: "From one ring to the next 💍 …congrats @killatrav & @taylorswift ! From your favourite Home Ec Teacher G x."

"Omg @gordongram needs to cater the wedding!!!" one follower wrote underneath.
