'Our hearts are shattered': Shifty Shellshock's family speak following the Crazy Town star's death at 49

Shifty Shellshock's family have paid tribute to the late star following his death at the age of 49.

The family shared a statement with The Sun, describing the rapper as a "beautiful soul" and saying their "hearts are shattered by his loss".

They went on to praise the late Crazy Town star, explaining he was a family man and that his three sons "were his proudest accomplishments".

"To Seth, the world was art—he loved every part of it, from music and fashion to graffiti, skateboarding and his hometown of Los Angeles," the statement read.

"He loved his three boys more than anything, and his dedication to his music and fans never wavered.

"Seth struggled with addiction throughout his life, he did so on a very public platform which was particularly challenging.

They added in part of the statement: "Our hearts are shattered by his loss. Seth's larger-than-life presence touched so many."

"Seth was a troubled soul but he was a beautiful one and he had a heart of gold.

"He will live on through his 3 sons who were his proudest accomplishments. Halo Gage and Phoenix."

Shellshock, born Seth Binzer, was best known for being a part of the music group Crazy Town. They are known for the 2000's hit Butterfly.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's website states that the musician passed away on Monday June 24 at his home.

Shellshock released a solo album titled Happy Love Sick, which saw him achieve moderate success in Europe.

Over the years, the singer had been open about his struggle with addiction.

He appeared on two seasons of Celebrity Rehab, and two seasons of Sober House, both of which were reality shows addressing the matter.
