Russell Brand's German Shepherd reportedly seen mauling wallaby to death in posh English town
Russell Brand is reportedly "devastated" after his dog, a German Shepherd named Bear, apparently killed a wallaby in English town Henley-on-Thames.
Bear allegedly mauled a female wallaby, which resulted in its death, but the 46-year-old comic was able to save the baby joey that was in the now-deceased wallaby's pouch.

According to The Sun, the incident happened on Monday June 14.

Locals of Henley-on-Thames, which is located to the west of London, said that Brand, who is vegan and loves animals, was horrified by what happened.
Brand has a £4.1 million (approx. $7.6 million) cottage in the town.

"Absolutely no one is blaming Russell or his dog — it's just a horrible accident," one local said.

"In fact Russell was the hero because he managed to save the little joey.
"It could have been far worse if he hadn't stepped in so quickly.
"He is a very caring man with animals — he has plenty of pets and they're all his babies," the local told the outlet.
Brand often posts snaps and videos of his dog and pet kittens on his Instagram.
"I understand he's devastated over what happened. It's really sad."

Brand is a vegan and a known animal-lover.
The Get Him To The Greek star has not eaten meat since he was 14, and has previously stated that animal cruelty is akin to slavery.
Per The Sun, Brand's representatives had not responded to their request for comment. There is no word on the baby joey's whereabouts as of yet.
