'You're very rude': Video shows Teyana Taylor saying she was 'shoved' at Oscars, Academy responds

The Academy has spoken out after Best Supporting Actress nominee Teyana Taylor alleged she was shoved by a security guard during the closing moments of the Oscars.

The response comes after a video filmed backstage and shared online showed Taylor, 35, accusing someone off camera of "putting [your] hands on a female".

In a statement, the Academy said: "We were extremely upset to learn about the experience endured by Teyana Taylor at the end of the Oscars ceremony last night.

"We have worked with Teyana over the last several months during awards season, and she has been nothing short of remarkable, supportive, kind and all about community."

"Though the incident was with our outside security firm SIS, the experience of every single guest is our responsibility. We have made it clear to them that this behaviour is not acceptable," the statement, shared with Entertainment Weekly, continued.

The Academy added it was "taking the appropriate measures to ensure this does not happen again".

TMZ reported that Taylor was trying to return to the stage when a security guard stopped her.

"You're very rude. You're very rude. You're very rude," she says to the accused.

A woman appeared to ask Taylor something in the video, and Taylor replied "because he's put his hands on a female".

"He literally shoved me," she added.

Security Industry Specialists also addressed the alleged confrontation.

"There was a brief interaction involving Ms Taylor and a member of our security team during the show," the company said in a statement.

"Our security personnel were working to manage a crowded area and ensure the safety of all guests."

The company said there was "incidental contact" during the moment and expressed regret that the situation escalated.

"This is not the standard of professionalism we expect from our team, and we have addressed the matter internally to help ensure situations like this do not happen again," the statement read.

Taylor has since played down the incident, insisting it did not ruin her Oscars night.

"It's all good … at the end of the day I just don't tolerate disrespect, especially when it's unwarranted and unprovoked," the actress told TMZ.

The American singer-songwriter and actress was nominated for her portrayal of Perfidia Beverly Hills in Paul Thomas Anderson's lauded political thriller.

But while the film won six awards on Sunday night (Monday AEDT), including the coveted Best Picture and Best Director, Taylor missed out to Weapons' Amy Madigan in the Best Supporting Actress category.

Co-star Leonardo DiCaprio also missed out on claiming another Best Actor award - it went to Michael B Jordan for Sinners – but Sean Penn claimed Best Supporting Actor.
