The pair have been at the centre of ongoing romance rumours.
The chatter started after Streep announced in October last year that she had been separated from her husband, sculptor Don Gummer for six years.
Talk of a romance got so loud, representatives for the actor have had to address the speculation.
Short's people told The Messenger that he and Streep are "just very good friends, nothing more."
