Nick Cannon's heartbreaking words about Alyssa Scott after their baby son Zen's tragic death

Nick Cannon has praised Alyssa Scott as the "strongest woman I've ever seen" after the couple's five-month-old son Zen died of a brain tumour.

Cannon, 41, announced the shock death of his son on his eponymous talk show Nick Cannon and gushed about Zen's mother Alyssa in an emotional monologue.

"Zen's mum, Alyssa, was just the strongest woman I've ever seen. Never had an argument, never was angry," Cannon said of the model.

"Was emotional when she needed to be, but always the best mum, and continues to be the best mum."

The actor told his viewers he and Alyssa, 28, took Zen, who was Cannon's seventh child, to the doctor at two months old after noticing he had an abnormally large head.

"He had this real interesting breathing and by the time he was two months old I noticed…he had this nice sized head, I called it a Cannon head," he explained.

"We didn't think anything of it, he had a normal Cannon head. But I wanted to take him to the doctor to get the breathing and the sinus thing checked out. We thought it would be a routine process."

Zen was later diagnosed with a condition called hydrocephalus, which is an invasive midline brain tumour.

Cannon said he spent the last weekend with his baby son in California and enjoyed the sunrise and sunset before Zen died.

Speaking through tears on this talk show, Cannon said it was the last time he ever held his son.

"I didn't know how I was gonna handle today but I just really wanted to grieve with my family, people who love you. I didn't want to make it about any pageantry so I kind of went back and forth of what I should do but I was always taught, you go through it, you grow through it, you keep pushing," an emotional Cannon told the audience.

"I'm here to show that I can fight through this, I'm feeling it, I'm vulnerable, I'm open. This is a special show dedicated to my beautiful son Zen."

Scott gave birth to baby Zen on June 23, just nine days after the Cannon welcomed twins Zion and Zillion with DJ Abby De La Rosa, 30.

Cannon also welcomed his daughter, Powerful Queen, last December with ex Brittany Bell, with whom he also shares a four-year-old son, Golden.

The America's Got Talent host shares 10-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe with his ex-wife Mariah Carey.
