Planes 'delayed' at Sydney Airport as baggage handlers were too busy watching 'Married At First Sight'

Call it the Married At First Sight effect.

A radio caller who claimed to work at an airport said planes were delayed for up to half an hour on Tuesday night because employees were distracted watching the explosive MAFS reunion dinner party.

"The big, burly blokes that work with me that sit in my meal room – there were delayed planes for anywhere up to half an hour because they could not take their eyes off that TV screen," the caller alleged to Sydney's 2DayFM's Em, Grant & Ed.

"So, the bags that go on the planes – your bags are not being put on on time because they want to watch this silly show."

Co-host Em Rusciano was fascinated by the purported scandalous tidbit and went on to assert that the caller worked at Sydney Airport.

"Wait, did you just say planes are getting delayed by up to half an hour at Sydney Airport because they are in the meal room watching Married At First Sight?" she said, adding, "If I'm flying on a Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, my plane's going to be delayed… I'm outraged!"

Sydney Airport has yet to comment on the claims, and the caller herself never specified which airport she is employed at.

Still, Tuesday night's episode delivered plenty of salacious moments to keep baggage handlers preoccupied.

At the dinner party, it was revealed that Troy Delmege and Carly Bowyer are now happily coupled, as are Tracey Jewel and Sean Thomsen. (If you haven't been keeping up with MAFS, those are not the people they were paired with on the show.)

And controversial participant Davina Rankin returned, refusing to apologise for her hand in breaking up Jewel's and Dean Well's marriage.
