Lily Collins says that she feels "very, very lucky" following her recent engagement to Charlie McDowell.

The 31-year-old Emily in Paris star spoke to Drew Barrymore on The Drew Barrymore Show about her engagement to director and producer Charlie McDowell.

"Is he lovely and kind and good?" Barrymore asked her.

"I am the luckiest," Collins said. "I am so grateful and I just truly feel like the happiest I've ever been."

She also spoke about what it's like to grow up with a famous parent — her father is music legend Phil Collins.

"It gave me such a drive to want to feel like I deserved to be where I am," she said. "There is a saying, 'Personality can open doors, character keeps them open.' It's like for a certain amount of time a last name could be something that's interesting but at the end of the day you've got to bring something to the table.

"Yeah, I maybe had to grow up a little quicker but I was also exposed to the pros and cons at an early age and I still chose it for me."

Her fiancé is also no stranger to a famous parent. McDowell is the son of British actor Malcolm McDowell and American actress Mary Steenburgen.

Collins confirmed their relationship in August of last year, and shared photos from their engagement on Instagram two weeks ago.

The ring is made of a unique see-through diamond, which is estimated to cost over $100,000.
