Liam Hemsworth admits to using 'thirst trap' in cryptic Instagram post

Liam Hemsworth has hilariously admitted to using a 'thirst trap' on Instagram.

The 29-year-old actor — who recently separated from Miley Cyrus after less than a year of marriage — shared a photo that his brother, Luke Hemsworth, took of him with his dog, Dora, on December 1.

Hemsworth captioned the post, "@hemsworthluke captured this moment of me and my best friend Dora. Good god I love this dog."

The Isn't It Romantic actor's former co-star, Adam DeVine, was quick to point out that the photo was an obvious "thirst trap."

"Thirst TRAP," DeVine commentated on the photo.

Hemsworth replied to the cheeky allegation with a comment saying, "I just googled thirst trap. 100 per cent true."

The term 'thirst trap' refers to social media activity that is intended to attract attention from potential love interests.

According to the Urban Dictionary a 'thirst trap' is: "done not to actually respond or satisfy any of this attraction, but to feed the poster's ego or need for attention, at the expense of the time, reputation and sexual frustration of those who view the image or reply."

The correspondence comes after Hemsworth was spotted kissing Maddison Brown in New York City on October 12.

Soon after Cyrus' short-lived fling with reality TV star Kaitlynn Cater and now Cody Simpson, Hemsworth was rumoured to be spending time with the 22-year-old Dynasty actress.

It is not known whether Hemsworth and Brown are still dating.
