Miley Cyrus packs on the PDA with Kaitlynn Carter at the MTV VMAs

It's been a big month for Miley Cyrus. She split from her husband, Liam Hemsworth, wrote an emotional ballad (unofficially) about it, was spotted locking lips with new flame Kaitlynn Carter on vacation in Italy and, today, served up a moving performance of her brand new single, 'Slide Away', at the MTV Video Music Awards.

While the crowd, and millions of viewers worldwide, are still recovering from the heart-wrenching, stripped-back version of the song so new we're still learning the words, new details have emerged that prove the romance between Cyrus and Carter is still going strong.

Backstage footage, used to announce Cyrus' upcoming performance, shows the duo together before the 26-year-old took the stage.

According to ET, the couple were also spotted holding hands and sharing some special moments as they hung out behind the scenes. Eyewitnesses, also noticing "they looked very much like a couple."

Could it have been friendly moral support? Or maybe Carter was just helping fix Cyrus' hair? Either way we don't think this is the last we'll see of this loved up couple.
