Delta Goodrem evacuates from Los Angeles wildfires

Aussie singer Delta Goodrem has revealed that she is among the many who have had to evacuate LA after wildfires razed through the city.

The singer took to her Instagram stories to share her thoughts and an update.

"I love this beautiful city. It has always been a home away from home for me. My heart is broken and the feeling in the smoke filled air is devastating. Praying for everyone," the 40-year-old shared in the first slide, along with a photo of the fires in the background.

In the next slide she shared an update: "It's difficult to even start with the words to truly express the emotions so many are feeling right now.

"I am so grateful for all your messages of support checking in. We had to temporarily evacuate but we are ok, on a journey with everyone here – and deeply saddened to this beautiful city in such a devastating way.

"My thoughts, love, and strength are with everyone dealing with the unimaginable right now."

In the slide after that, she shared a picture of a helicopter dumping water on a fire, with the lyrics of her song Let it Rain overlaid on top.

They include the words: "I can't stay in silence/Hoping this will go/But it won't slow/And it won't leave here today,

"We walk on our great land/Breathing in the ashes/Of our home towns/And it keeps on raging,

"They say keep on praying/And we're waiting for all the rain/Let it rain here today/Can it rain here today?"

Goodrem originally wrote the song in 2020 after seeing the devastation from the bushfire season in Australia, with the situation in LA now resembling what we see Down Under regularly.

"I wrote this song about an hour ago after seeing yet another video of the firefighters continuing to fight the fires for us," she wrote on Instagram at the time.

"The extremes that many families are experiencing leaves me with no words. I send all my love and I am praying everyday."

She eventually released the song for sale, with all proceeds going to bushfire relief. Within three hours of it's release, it topped Australian iTunes charts.
