Kyle Sandilands admits to having 'a dozen' abortions under his belt

Kyle Sandilands has admitted to having “a dozen” abortions under his belt.

On Wednesday, the Kyle & Jackie O Show host was talking about children with his KIIS FM co-host when he made the throwaway comment.

“I don’t even care about the abortions I’ve forked out for,” the 47-year-old told Jackie ‘O’ Henderson. “Should I light a candle every year? Or 12?”

Henderson, shocked, said, "Don't say that. What's wrong with you?" prompting Sandilands to ask if she was "an anti-abortionist. What's wrong with me having a dozen under my belt?"

Sandilands has always been open about his pro-choice beliefs.

During the 2016 presidential campaign, Donald Trump said there should be "some form of punishment" for women who abort a pregnancy.

Discussing Trump's comments on air, Sandilands said, "You're on your own there, Donald. I believe a woman can do whatever she pleases." The shock jock has previously been vocal about his support for the US President.

Sandilands also said men should be forking out the cost of a pregnancy termination.

"Why is it always the girl paying?" he asked at the time. "It's our fault. I've paid for it before."

In Australia it is legal to request an abortion in the Australian Capital Territory, Northern Territory, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria and Western Australia. It is a criminal offence in Queensland, New South Wales and Norfolk Island with some exemptions.

Sandilands has been dating 27-year-old Imogen Anthony since 2012. They have both hinted at their desire to have children in the future.

In 2010, Sandilands ended his two-year marriage to to Scandal'us singer Tamara Jaber, 36.
