Kevin Spacey has been spotted in Turin, Italy, as he prepares to film his first role since 2017.

The disgraced actor is set to make a cameo in Italian movie L'uomo Che Disegnò Dio (The Man Who Drew God) - it marks his return to acting after multiple sexual assault and misconduct allegations were made against the House of Cards star four years ago.

The 61-year-old was snapped enjoying an alfresco drink with American actor Robert Davi, with the pair even raising their glasses for the camera.

The American Beauty actor was dressed casually in mustard-coloured corduroys with a white t-shirt and an open grey marl shirt-style jacket.

As he walked down the street with Davi and his manager Evan Lowenstein, he donned a blue face mask adorned with stars, which he removed once seated at the cafe.

According to the Filmitalia website, the low-budget indie film follows "the rise and fall of a blind artist who has the extraordinary gift of making true-to-life portraits just by listening to human voices."

It's understood Spacey will play a detective in the movie.

The Man Who Drew God — which Vanessa Redgrave's husband, Franco Nero, will direct and star in — is set in 1950s Italy and based on a true story.

Producer Louis Nero recently defended the casting of Spacey.

"In Italy, we don't know details on everything, so we don't speak about what we don't know about," he told Entertainment Weekly.

"I cannot speak about these things. I only know that Kevin is a great actor. That was my concern and no more than that."

The Oscar winner was starring in Netflix's House of Cards in November 2017, but was written off the show after his character was killed, following accusations of sexual misconduct by several men.

Spacey was charged with indecent assault in Nantucket Island, Massachusetts in 2018, in an incident involving a teenage boy. Spacey pled not guilty, and the charge was later dropped when the alleged victim withdrew their civil lawsuit.

Spacey has kept a low profile on social media, last appearing on camera in a Christmas video in 2020.
