WATCH: The moment Australia's own Kylie Minogue broke a 20-year Grammys drought

Kylie Minogue clinched a victory for Australia at the 2024 Grammy Awards before the ceremony even began, taking home her first gong in 20 years.

Australia's pop princess won the Best Pop Dance Recording Grammy Award for her hit Padam Padam, which was announced at the pre-telecast Premiere Ceremony.

At the time of the announcement, Minogue was getting ready for the big event in a hotel room – but she took a moment to share her reaction when she found out about her massive win.

"Padam? Padam! @recordingacademy ❤️❤️ Thank you SOOO much 🥹🥰😘 @inawroldsenofficial @areyoulostboy," Minogue wrote on Instagram alongside a video of her jumping for joy and cheering in her dressing gown.

It's Minogue's second Grammys win in her glittering decades-long career, and it's the first time she's won a Grammy in 20 years.

In 2004, she notably took out the Best Dance Recording gong for her hit Come Into My World, one of the many iconic tracks off her album Fever.

Minogue has been nominated for a Grammy six times throughout her career, first in 2003 for Best Dance Recording for Love at First Sight, and most recently – prior to 2024 – for Best Electronic/Dance Album in 2009 for X.

For four years in a row between 2003 and 2006, she was nominated for Best Dance Recording, but only clinched a victory in 2004.

This year, she beat out fellow Aussie Troye Sivan, who was also nominated in the Best Pop Dance Recording category for his hit Rush with David Guetta.

Hours earlier, Minogue walked the red carpet at the annual Clive Davis Pre-Grammy Gala, wearing a black mini dress with a metallic embellishment.

Also in attendance was Sivan, as well as Dua Lipa – who is nominated twice at the 66th Grammy Awards – and Shania Twain.
