Ed Sheeran wins stoush with neighbours about a pool not being a pool

UK singer Ed Sheeran has shared a video of himself jumping into a pond after promising his neighbours it was not a swimming pool.
According to The Telegraph, Sheeran has been embroiled in a lengthy planning dispute over the pond which is on his estate in the town of Framlingham where the singer and his wife Cherry Seaborn live.
The pond was given approval in 2016, with Sheeran saying it would "support nature conservation" and be "a natural habitat for insects, amphibians and birds".

However, Sheeran then added both a jetty and steps to the pond, leading to the local council declaring it unsuitable for "recreational leisure activity, such as swimming".
Neighbours complained about the new additions, at the time saying "the so-called wildlife pond would now appear to be more like a swimming pond" The Telegraph reported.

Sheeran then won an appeal against the swimming restrictions and the ban was subsequently lifted.
He seemed delighted at this, and this week took to Instagram, sharing a video of himself jumping into the pool.

In 2021, in an interview on Hits Radio Breakfast, Sheeran said people needed to mind their own business.
"I do get in it – but it's not a swimming pool," he said. "It's essentially a pond. It is grey, filled with tadpoles and swamp stuff."

"Before it was there it was like a ploughed field, so there is way more wildlife now, it's surrounded by 14,000 trees that were planted, which is great for the environment," he said. "There's loads of animals, we let the meadow grow up."
"I just think people need to mind their own business!"
