Dolly Parton’s nephew Bryan Seaver fired amid dispute over late singer’s $600m estate

Dolly Parton‘s nephew, Bryan Seaver, who announced her death last month, has been removed from his position as her estate’s head of security.

Seaver, the son of Dolly’s sister Cassie Parton, was informed he and his security companies were immediately dismissed from Parton’s properties, TMZ reported.

This decision affects her Nashville home, museum, downtown residence and warehouse.

Seaver and his team attributed the decision to Parton’s long-time manager, Danny Nozell, and Pinnacle Bank, saying they were “dismayed by the unexpected and, so far, unexplained actions” taken.

“We remain unshakably resolved to fulfil her final directive to protect her family, and we refuse to be intimidated by those whose actions we believe are being taken in bad faith and with the intent to profit from the life of someone who willingly gave so much,” they told TMZ.

Nine.com.au is not suggesting any wrongdoing has occurred and has contacted Nozell and Pinnacle for comment.  

The termination letter reportedly said that Parton’s properties and business interests are controlled by the DP Dean Trust and while Seaver’s security role has been stripped, it has not affected his personal interest in the trust.

Seaver had acted as Parton’s head of security for more than two decades, a role previously held by his father, Larry Seaver.

Parton, a 10-time Grammy winner, died on August 25 surrounded by family.

The country singer’s staggering fortune was estimated to be worth $US450 million ($600 million).

While the details of her wishes are not publicly available, the singer had previously spoken on the importance of creating a will.

“I would not want to leave that mess to somebody else,” she said in a 2020 interview with Billboard.

“A word to all the other artists out there: If you haven’t made those provisions, do that. You don’t want to leave that mess to your family for people to have to fight over. You need to take care of that yourself, even if it’s a pain … and it is.”
