Sir David Beckham reveals the cheeky question his kids had after he received his knighthood

When Sir David Beckham was honoured with a knighthood from King Charles, his children had one very cheeky follow-up question. 

The football legend was talking about how life had changed since he received the honour last year, but joked it really hasn't been much. 

"The only thing that changed was my note paper that I send out to people [in] thank you letters. That's the only thing that really changed," the 51-year-old explained during a recent appearance on the talkSport radio show. 

"My kids [did] turn around to me and said, 'Do we get any privileges? Like any?'"

David and Victoria share four children, Brooklyn, 27, Romeo, 23, Cruz, 21, and Harper, 14, although they are currently estranged from their eldest son. 

Shortly after David was knighted in November 2025, he had to explain to his kids that the title didn't really come with any perks. 

"I was, like, 'Well, apart from the ones that you already got, absolutely not,'" he quipped.

"I mean, [the ceremony] was unbelievable. It was probably the best day of my life other than, obviously, when my kids were born and when I got married. It was special to receive that," he continued. 

David had his wife by his side, along with his parents, for the long-awaited ceremony last year. 

After the ceremony, he reflected on the moment, noting it was his "proudest moment" and celebrated with Cruz, Romeo and Harper. 

"I've been very obviously lucky in my career to have won what I've won and done what I've done, but to receive an honour like this, of a knight, is beyond anything that I ever thought that I would receive," he said after the ceremony. 

"To be honest, a young boy from the East End of London, born in Leytonstone, and here at Windsor Castle, being honoured by His Majesty the King – the most important and the most respected institution in the world – it's quite a moment.

"This is without doubt my proudest moment."

His sons also took to social media to celebrate the huge moment. 

"I'm so proud of you, Dad, I love you. Sir David Beckham has a nice ring to it!"" Cruz wrote via his Instagram Stories, while Romeo added on his page, "So so proud of you."

Meanwhile, Brooklyn remained silent on social media. 

Although, in January when he issued a blistering takedown of his family in a scathing social media statement it was clear that the ongoing feud was behind his decision to skip the milestone for his dad.
