Connie and Samuel Johnson's Big Heart Project surpasses $1M goal: See the photo!

Connie Johnson had called Wednesday's Big Heart Project fundraiser her "last hurrah" after admitting her seven-year breast cancer battle was coming to an end. And her supporters did not let her down.

The 40-year-old mum of two and her brother, actor Samuel Johnson, asked supporters to bring 5c coins to Canberra's Lyneham Netball Courts on May 10 with the goal of raising $1 million for cancer research and to break the world record for longest line of coins -- 75.4 km.

Supporters of the Big Heart Project, part of Samuel and Connie's Love Your Sister charity, showed up in droves to contribute. In a Facebook post on May 10, Samuel shared that they had not only met their goal, but nearly doubled it at $1.6 million.

"We dreamed of a million dollar heart to match Connie's million dollar heart. We're sitting at $1.6M and we're half a chance to double down. Oh. My. Lordy. In the name of my sis and every single cancery family, let's give this f----r one last push? Yeah? Carn!" Samuel captioned the photo.

The touching photo has more than 177,000 likes so far.

On Tuesday, Connie gave an emotional interview airing on The Project, in which she admitted she was frightened to die and leave behind her sons, Willoughby, 10, and Hamilton, 9.

She previously revealed she had stopped chemotherapy treatment in July upon her doctors' recommendations.

"They told me I couldn't continue on the chemo because my organs were struggling too much," she told News Corp in a recent interview, in which she said she didn't expect to live through Christmas.

But she said her work through Big Heart Project has offered solace through these trying times.

"I've got the Big Heart Project to distract me, to keep me busy. To make me focus on something other than myself. Over the past seven years I’ve gone into some very deep pits of despair. I feel like if I wasn’t focused on the Big Heart Project right now that’s where I would be."
