Kaia Gerber’s surprise remark about nepo-babies ‘deserving jobs’

Cindy Crawford’s daughter Kaia Gerber knows she has nepo-baby privilege but admitted she judges other famous children for it.

The 24-year-old model and actress, daughter of the iconic ’90s supermodel and multi-million dollar businessman Rande Gerber, made a surprise remark about her take on work ethic while speaking with Vogue.

“I’ve only ever been a nepo baby, and I’ve only ever benefited in my career from it,” she admitted to the publication on Wednesday. But she’s also critical.

“I also find myself doing it to other nepo babies, thinking, like, ‘Okay, show me why you deserve this job.’”

It’s a concept she had to remind The Shards co-star Homer Gere, 26, who just so happens to be the son of Pretty Woman heartthrob Richard Gere.

Their parents were also famously married – Cindy Crawford and Richard Gere were once one of the biggest power couples on the planet in the ’90s.

Gerber told Homer that “unfortunately” he’s not just like any unknown actor, and people “will judge” him as an actor.

She said having this perception has only made her “want to work harder”.

Gerber, who made her screen debut at age 15, saw her acting career kick off after landing a recurring role in the American Horror Stories series.

In 2003, she gained wider recognition for her supporting role in teen comedy Bottoms.

This month, the young star returns to TVs for erotic thriller series The Shards from executive producer Ryan Murphy.

Homer Gere made his jaw-dropping acting debut in June, appearing in an episode of Euphoria for an eyebrow-raising love scene.

But, as Homer took his first steps onto the world stage, dad Richard revealed in 2024 that his son “didn’t understand” the true extent of his in-built fame, adding Homer’s only “suddenly become interested” in acting.
