Football superstar hoses down 'silly' Sydney Sweeney dating rumours: 'Please stop with the made up stories'

It seems the reports of a new Sydney Sweeney romance have been greatly exaggerated.

American football star Christian Pulisic, 27, has firmly shut down whispers he's dating the Anyone But You actress, 28, after several articles emerged over the weekend.

Pulisic, who plays for AC Milan and the US national soccer team, set the record straight in an Instagram Story shared earlier this morning.

"[P]lease stop with the made up stories about my personal life," he wrote.

"Need to hold sources accountable it can affect people's lives."

The post came hours after the superstar athlete commented on an Instagram post claiming he was dating Sweeney.

"Fake news guys let's stop with the silly rumor," he wrote.

According to reports, Pulisic has been in a relationship with golfer Alexa Melton.

Meanwhile, Sweeney has been linked to music producer Scooter Braun following her split from her fiancee Jonathan Davino in March.

The couple had been together for seven years and engaged for three.

Sweeney was first spotted with Braun in Venice while they were both there for the wedding of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez in June.

They've since been seen out and about on various occasions.

Earlier this month, sources claimed to People the pair are "in a committed relationship" and "things are serious".

"Scooter and Sydney are going strong and things between them are great," the unnamed source told the magazine.

The Pulisic romance speculation is just another chapter in what has been an interesting year for Sweeney as her star continues to rise.

The actress is undoubtedly one of the most talked-about celebrities of 2025, and not for entirely positive reasons.

In addition to her career moves, Sweeney's head-turning fashion choices (namely that silver 'naked' dress), a controversial American Eagle jeans ad, her attendance at the Bezos wedding and the sale of bars of soap containing her bathwater have kept her in the headlines.
