Chris Hemsworth makes a surprise appearance at an Ed Sheeran concert

Chris Hemsworth has shocked fans by making a surprise appearance at Ed Sheeran concert in Bucharest, Romania.

The actor played the drums on stage in front of an estimated 70,000 concertgoers, who were sent into a frenzy. 

Hemsworth travelled to Romania's National Arena for an upcoming episode for the second season of his Disney+/National Geographic series Limitless with Chris Hemsworth, premiering in 2025.

Sheeran posted a behind-the-scenes video to his Instagram account, captioning the video: "Got @chrishemsworth to learn drums for my stadium show."

Hemsworth approached Sheeran to collaborate, with the Thor star playing the drums for the smash hit Thinking Out Loud.

The +–=÷× Tour (The Mathematics Tour) is the fourth tour by the English singer who will be performing 149 shows worldwide.

"So we're here in Bucharest," Sheeran began, "Basically, what's happening is Chris emailed me last December saying he's doing a documentary on cognitive health and the benefits of learning an instrument.

"And he came to visit me, and he has learned drums, and he's coming on stage in front of 70,000 [concertgoers]."

"I've been thinking about it a lot," Hemsworth said. "It'll be nice to put this to bed."

The video then cuts to Sheeran announcing on stage that Hemsworth had been performing throughout the show. 

Hemsworth is seen playing the drums as the crowd erupts into applause, and he smiles at the audience. At the end of the video, Sheeran handed Hemsworth a 'participation' award.

In a Disney+ press release, Hemsworth revealed how filming his latest season of Limitless with Chris Hemsworth has gone. 

"Working on Limitless was an eye-opening experience that allowed me to reflect on my strengths, vulnerabilities and all the ways in which we as humans can plan toward longevity," said Hemsworth. 

"For this next season, we are attempting to raise the bar and go even deeper in this exploration alongside health and wellness experts from around the globe."
