Breaking down Aussie Rules to foreigners is hard enough, let alone to Hollywood executives, but if anyone's up for the job, it's Chris Hemsworth.

So it's no wonder the AFL have enlisted the Western Bulldogs' most recognised supporter to front their 2017 ad campaign, in which Chris, 33, "pitches" AFL: The Movie to a bunch of U.S. directors.

"Bulldogs hadn't won a flag in 62 years, and the competition was tough," Byron Bay-based Chris, who attended the historic Grand Final back in September, begins.

"Down and out, and missing their fearless leader, those brave underdogs found victory," he continued, "Now it's 2017, new season, new battle."

The dad to twins Tristan and Sasha, 2, and India Rose, 4, with wife Elsa Pataky, goes on to reveal the Western Bulldogs have a "secret weapon" in Marcus Bontempelli, aka The Bont. And he even dons his number 4 guernsey to prove it.

"Will the doggies go on to find glory?" Chris said. "Or will another team rise up and steal their crown?"

Confused, the execs respond with, "It's seems a bit fantastical".

"Fantastical?" Chris responds, before adding, "No, no this is a modern day epic. This is football."
