Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell
Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell went on their first date in 1983 while working together on the wartime film Swing Shift.
In 1986, Russell and Hawn completed their family, welcoming a son named Wyatt, who has also followed in his parents' and siblings' footsteps by becoming an actor.
Many fans have wondered why they never married.
Speaking to Porter magazine, Hawn confessed: "A lasting relationship isn't about marriage. It's about compatibility and communication."
"I've been married twice ... Basically, once you've done it once, once you've done it twice and you realise that marriage, or the act of marrying, has nothing to do with the success."
The Oscar winner has even declared she would have been "long divorced" if she had married Russell.
"If you need to be bound to someone, then it's important to be married. If you are independent, then it's important to not be married," she told UK panel show Loose Women.
"We like the choice and we chose to stay. We're always asked why we are not married. Why? What is marriage going to do for us?"
Charlize Theron
Charlize Theron could probably marry any man she wanted, but she has chosen to stay untethered.
Despite pranking fans into thinking she had married fellow star Guillermo Rodriguez, Theron is still dating her boyfriend, Alex Dimitrijevic.
The actress opened up about being single on The Howard Stern Show, revealing she has elected to be unwed.
"I never wanted to get married. That's never been something that's important to me," she said.
"My life right now just doesn't allow a lot of room for something like that to happen.
"But in saying that, there's not this thing that drives me [to have a romantic relationship]. I enjoy being set up on dates but I don't know if I'll ever be able to live with somebody again."
"To be totally frank, they might have to buy the house next to me. I don't know if I'm going to be able to deal with that ever again, I'm too old for that shit," she joked.
Kylie Minogue
Kylie Minogue's love life has dominated headlines over the years, with her stories of love and heartbreak.
Though the 55-year old is currently single, she is a testament to the idea love can be found anywhere and at any time.
In a interview published by The Mirror, the Aussie pop princess said she's more than happy being unwed.
When asked about her ''philosophy on love" at the moment, she replied: "Well, I'm single and enjoying this freedom and the liberty. I think we can make different choices at this time than we may have at other times. I guess, don't be afraid… I have, definitely."
Without naming names, she added: "There's some romances I maybe could have done without, but it's all part of what makes us human and our understanding of everything."
Minogue has dated Jason Donovan, who she married on-screen, Michael Hutchence, Jean-Claude Van Damme and Olivier Martinez.
Most recently, she dated Paul Solomons, but the COVID-19 forced them into a long-distance relationship and ultimately ended their love story.
Oprah Winfrey
Oprah Winfrey and Stedman Graham met in 1986, the same year The Oprah Winfrey Show premiered.
Graham proposed to Oprah after six years of dating. Later, they chose to call off their engagement in 1993 but remained a couple.
Having dated for nearly 40 years, the pair say they skipped marriage for a "spiritual partnership," with the star explaining why in a 2020 issue of her magazine.
"Partnership between equals for the purpose of spiritual growth," she explained.
Winfrey talked to Vogue in August 2017, when she confessed marriage would have ended their relationship.
"Nobody believes it, but it's true," she said.
"The only time I brought it up was when I said to Stedman, 'What would have happened if we had actually gotten married?' And the answer is: 'We wouldn't be together.' We would not have stayed together, because marriage requires a different way of being in this world.
"His interpretation of what it means to be a husband and what it would mean for me to be a wife would have been pretty traditional, and I would not have been able to fit into that."
Aussie-born actress Rose Byrne and Bobby Cannavale
The pair met through mutual friends and kept their relationship out of the spotlight for the most part.
In 2020, the couple still had yet to tie the knot, with the pair addressing the situation with Vulture.
Cannavale confessed that even though they weren't married, they still called each other husband and wife.
"I hate all the other words! It's just easier to say 'husband and wife,'" he said.
"'Boyfriend and girlfriend' feels so young. 'Partner' feels so sterile. What else could we say? My lover?"
"Sure. My lover, Bobby," Byrne replied.
"Who gives a s---?!" Cannavale continued. "It's just funny what people care about."
Speaking with The Sydney Morning Herald, Byrne admitted life kept getting in the way of their pending nuptials.
"I keep going, 'Let's get around to it, let's do it'. And then, you know, you have a baby, and then, oh, there's another baby," she said.
"It was kind of like that for us. I love weddings, and I know people [for whom] it's an important thing, and I respect that totally.
"I guess for us it's just been, we didn't do it, we'll do it, then – no! Pandemic."
Marriage could still be on the cards for these cuties.
Allison Janney
Allison Janney was open to marriage, but the timing needed to be right.
The West Wing star was engaged to actor Richard Jenik before their 2006 breakup and dated Philip Joncas and Dennis Gagomiros. Now, she's single.
During an episode of The Drew Barrymore Show in 2021, Janney revealed why she never married or had children.
"I think if I would have found the right guy at the right time who wanted to have kids, I probably would have with the right partner because I wasn't ever really confident that I wanted to have kids," she explained.
"I would rather regret not having kids than have kids and regret that. I'm OK with it.
"I really am this time in my life getting to know who I am and what I want. I'd love to eventually find someone to share my life with but if it doesn't happen, I'll be just fine."
Ricky Gervais
Ricky Gervais has been off the market since the '80s when he fell in love with his long-term girlfriend, Jane Fallon.
The pair met as students at University College London in 1982 and have been inseparable since, though they remain unmarried.
The comedian shared why they decided not to tie the knot in a 2010 interview with The Times.
"We are married for all intents and purposes; everything's shared, and actually, our fake marriage has lasted longer than a real one," he shared.
"But there's no point in us having an actual ceremony before the eyes of God because there is no God."
Winona Ryder
Technically speaking, Winona Ryder accidentally married Keanu Reeves on Francis Ford Coppola's Bram Stoker's Dracula set.
"We did a whole take of a marriage ceremony with real priests…" Reeves told Esquire about the 1992 film.
"Winona says we are [married]. Coppola says we are. So I guess we're married… under the eyes of God."
Aside from the accidental nuptials, Ryder has yet to intentionally marry anyone.
The actress has been dating Scott Mackinlay Hahn since 2011, though the pair haven't married.
Leonardo DiCaprio
Despite having many romances and being one of Hollywood's most eligible bachelors, Leonardo DiCaprio has never married.
In fact, the actor hasn't had a serious relationship with anyone over the age of 25, which may be what's holding him back.
DiCaprio's longest relationship since Gisele Bündchen was with model-turned-actress Camila Morrone, who he dated for five years.
The actor has also kept tight-lipped about why he has never taken a woman to the altar.
