Callum Turner’s honeymoon hint with wife Dua Lipa in rare comments on their romance

Dua Lipa and her new husband Callum Turner are basking in that newlywed glow after their low-key wedding in London over the weekend.

While the pop superstar has already treated fans to a glimpse of the big day on social media, it’s her new husband who may have dropped the ultimate hint about where they’re heading for their honeymoon.

Just weeks before their wedding, the 36-year-old actor told nine.com.au about his hopes for the couple’s next getaway following a safari together in April, which the 30-year-old singer described “as the most incredible trip of my life”.

Turns out, Turner, who is promoting his upcoming rom-com One Night Only, is hoping for another animal-inspired getaway for their next chapter.

“We just went on safari, that was pretty cool… I don’t know what our next one will be, maybe go see the polar bears,” he teased to nine.com.au.

The British actor, who has been with the singer since January 2024, also insisted that their combined global fame never dictates their itinerary – whether they’re jetting across the world or just heading out for dinner.

“We always go to the restaurants we want to go to anyway,” Turner said, when asked what his ideal date night would look like if he actually had “one night only” of true anonymity.

Turner’s One Night Only co-star Monica Barbaro – who earlier this year starred alongside Chris Hemsworth in Crime 101 noted the actor had been looking forward to the safari when they were filming the new rom-com last September.

“I know, because we planned it but then got delayed [because] I got sick,” he revealed.

Turner and Lipa ended up going in April, with the singer sharing a carousel of photos from the couple’s holiday on social media.

“I just had the most incredible trip of my life in South Africa,” Lipa captioned the post.

“Being so close to such beautiful animals in their natural habitat, between Kruger Park and Sabi Sands, was something I can barely put into words.

“It was truly unforgettable ... one of those experiences that stays with you forever.”

American actress Barbaro, of A Complete Unknown fame, has been dating British actor Andrew Garfield since early 2025 and agreed the couple’s star status doesn’t impact what they do together, either.

“You can live your life as you want to live your life and you don’t have to worry about that side of things,” Barbaro tells nine.com.au of her view of living life in the public eye.

“I feel like it’s the company that makes it the date, I think.

“I love to just be a person who does fun things with anybody. I feel like whatever you do with a really good friend is always that much more heightened with the right partner.”

The pair play Owen and Allie, who meet on the one night of the year it’s legal for single people to have sex – and, as typical of a rom-com directed by Will Gluck, it’s not smooth sailing to the happily ever after.

Gluck is best known for his hit films Anyone But You, Friends with Benefits and Easy A.

Turner’s character Owen “is in the wrong relationship” and gets dumped on the night he thinks he’s going to get engaged to his girlfriend of two years because she wants to sleep with someone else.

“He’s sent into this wild night without knowing what’s going to happen, or even if he wants to do that, and meets Allie,” Turner teases of his role.

Meanwhile Barbaro, says her character Allie is “working a job that I think she finds pretty mundane and has big dreams and wants to also find romantic connection”.

“We happen to find her on this night that is completely chaotic, particularly for relationships and requires a lot of leaping without a net and that’s not something she’s necessarily comfortable with,” Barbaro says.

“But [she] gets a few good pushes in that direction and meets Owen, and that almost goes really well until it really doesn’t, and then you watch them on their sort of parallel and converging tracks.”

Turner says even though their first meeting is “a disaster”, “sparks fly and the atmosphere in that moment where we first look at each other, the atoms change for a brief moment”.

Gluck tells nine.com.au Turner and Barbaro’s chemistry was simply “in there” when talking about why he cast the pair.

“These guys are amazing, just watch them, you can’t stop watching them,” he says.

“And I think the secret to good chemistry is not necessarily intimacy, it’s more ‘do you want to see these two people just be with each other, doing anything?’ and as you can see, the answer is ‘yes’.”

One Night Only is set to hit Australian cinemas on August 6.
